The place: This waxing studio welcomes you with polished concrete floors and colorful mix and match ball chairs in the waiting lounge. The hallway to the private wax sections features vivid walls, while inside the rooms you’ll find wood panels lined with quotes from celebrities.
The equipment: Everything from soft wax to their signature berry chocolate hard wax, which contains soothing ingredients like chamomile and aloe vera. They also have other nicely scented waxes like warm English gingerbread cookie, New York vanilla cupcake and Shanghai orange, so keep up-to-date with their monthly promotions. They offer satisfying 15-minute wax jobs or IPL laser treatment for painless hair removal.
The staff: They’ve all received at least four weeks’ training at Strip’s training school in Singapore, so you can rest assured the hair removal techniques don’t hurt too much.
The cost: Starts at B450-1,600 for a hard wax Brazilian and B2,500-10,000 for IPL.

【Urban Retreat】
The place: A bright and clean reception area painted in white and grey displays home spa products. The waxing room is fairly clean, and has an ensuite shower booth.
The equipment: Two types of hot wax are used for Brazilian waxing: honey and hard wax. It shocked us that, here, a can of wax might be used on up to four customers. The staff claim that the heat of the boiling wax has the ability to kill all germs, and that the spatula only touches the wax’s surface.
The staff: Obviously experienced, the staff are remarkably friendly and provide top waxing tips.
The cost: B1,500 for a Brazilian.

【The Waxing Bar】
The place: Mostly all-white with touches of pink on some of the furniture, while the reception area boasts a big red sofa. There are four differently scented treatment rooms: chocolate-hazelnut, berry, vanilla, and coconut.
The equipment: They boast that their branded wax, Lycon, removes hair as short as one-millimeter-long. No double dipping (every customer gets a fresh pot), no re-used spatulas and strips, and almost pain-free. The wax comes in a gentle formula and in four different scents to match their treatment rooms.
The staff: They all undergo a two-month training program provided by the waxing product supplier from Australia.
The cost: B1,800 for a Brazilian and a Hollywood, B1,500 for a Bikini.

The place: Very homey and welcoming with white walls and cozy decorative touches that feel more like a friend’s flat than a beauty clinic. The rooms feel very private.
The equipment: Imported wax that ensures that even the smallest hairs are caught, and which they claim doesn’t hurt a bit. Pick from three types of wax—strip, smooth (both from Australia) and silk (French)—which correspond to different skin or hair types. No double dipping.
The staff: They really make you feel comfortable and are clearly experienced professionals.
The cost: A simple bikini line can range from B945 for a strip wax for women to B1,440 for a silk wax for men. If they’re going to do your privates, prices climb to B1,830 for women and B2,070 for men.

The place: Nice and neat with a relaxed atmosphere courtesy of pastel yellow walls, plant pots in each corner of the room and some soothing rattan furniture.
The equipment: Using Clean + Easy branded wax, from the US, with no re-use and no double dipping, you can be sure about the levels of hygiene.
The staff: Their friendly and qualified therapists will make you feel comfortable. Good news for expats, they’re able to speak English.
The cost: Bikini waxing starts at B500-700, it’s B700-900 for both men’s and women’s Brazilians, and Hollywood at B800-1,000.
